Carer Mentor -Melissa, makes a difference for Carers, thanks to RE Ross Trust

Over the past three months the Little Red Car with our Carer Mentor Melissa (Mel) on-board, has made many visits to carers and agencies across Gippsland.

Mel's warmth and friendly approach to her new role is delighting everyone she meets, helping her to help carers and their families access the help and support they seek in caring for people with disabilities, aged frailty, metal and chronic illness as she goes.

In a very short time shel has become the 'go to person' recommended by agencies as they pass on requests for her to make contact with carers across the region. Support services (as we know) are in short supply, but Mel is making sure contact is made for assessments and supports, providing carers with vital and helpful information to assist with empowering them with knowledge and reducing stresses on caring families as much as possible.

Mel is now also managing our Morwell Support Group and working with a local government to jointly establish a 'carers of people with disabilities Support Group' in their region.  We are delighted with how enthusiastically our Carer Mentor has taken to her role and we know she will delight carers too.

If you or your Support Group would like to have a Mel Visit then go to our Contact Us link on our website and leave your details. Mel will be in touch ASAP. 2014-15 year of service
