Gippsland carers say thank you to AGL-Loy Yang Power, Lend Lease, Paul Terranova and power workers for their generosity.

Gippsland carers say thank you to AGL-Loy Yang Power, Lend Lease, Paul Terranova and the power workers for nominating the Association as a beneficiary of their safe workplace 54 day outage project (to service the power station). Gippsland carers were presented with a cheque for $5,000 before a room full of power workers today.

The workers, AGL-LoyYan and Lend Lease were celebrating the end of the outage project and the donation of the proceeds of the industries reward for their exceptional workplace safety record, to a number of local community groups.

President of Gippsland carers Association Jean Tops said; we are privileged to be chosen by workers to share in the proceeds of their efforts.

The caring community will benefit through the provision of additional support to our Carer Mentor Melissa Marr who is making a difference to the lives of carers and their families throughout the region.

By offering links to services, peer support, advocacy and the establishment of support groups for carers the mentoring program is a vital help for carers that is only made possible by the generosity of the R E Ross Foundation and the support of the community.

“Funded regional carer networks are the big ‘missing link’ for loving families in their support to people with disabilities and frailty who are living with them.

More than 27,000 caring families across Gippsland contributing hundreds of thousands of dollars to the economy every year do not ask for much, but, alas their pleas for government local support are falling on deaf ears Mrs Tops said.

“We are blessed to have wonderful volunteers making a difference for family carers and we are delighted to have the support of our fine power workers and their employers.”

Gippsland carers and Lend Lease workers Paul Terranova and Chris Rowe - Thanks for nominating GCA.
